Annenberg TV News Drupal Site

Annenberg TV News (ATVN) is a program of the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism where students run a fully operational TV news broadcast. Working with modern broadcasting equipment, ATVN students learn how to produce a daily local news broadcast, from working with cameras, to delivering a weather forecast, to editing a live show.

Based on the popular open source content management system Drupal, this platform was first built for and powers the popular site news site Neon Tommy.

As both ATVN and Neon Tommy focus on news, it was a natural fit to adapt the ASNP to support the mission of ATVN.

Core features:

• An Editorial Control Panel that provides a graphical tool to layout stories on the sites home page and every major news section home page. The system allows users to instantly swap in a layout template and fill each region with specific articles, pod casts, videos and slide shows.
• Extensive rich media support, including embedded video, hosted video, podcasts, custom slide shows (with audio!) and custom Google Maps
• Precise media positioning, allowing you to insert a simple text placeholder to position embedded video, slideshows and pod casts anywhere in the body field
• Automatic HTML5 detection for audio pod casts
• A robust gallery of photo galliers
